If this is an emergency

  • Call 911 or your local emergency number.
  • Mental health crisis: call/text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
  • Immediate safety planning: contact a trusted person and move to a safe place.

First Steps (Quick Checklist)

  1. Preserve evidence: take screenshots, save URLs, export chat logs, and note dates/times. Do not delete threatening messages.
  2. Lock down accounts: change passwords, enable multi‑factor authentication, review recovery emails/phones, revoke old sessions.
  3. Reduce exposure: tighten social privacy settings; remove home/work address from public profiles; consider a P.O. box.
  4. Device safety: update OS/browser, run reputable AV, check for unfamiliar apps/extensions, and review account access tokens.
  5. Document harm: maintain a simple incident log (what happened, where, links, impact). This helps with reports and protection orders.
